are you using using thermal compound?
make sure the hs is firmly in contact with the cpu
get a better fan for the hs
any additional case fans?

Welcome to TechIMO.
That is pretty hot! Do you have the heat sink mounted properly? Is the CPU fan unobstructed? Do you have some type of thermal compound between the CPU and heatsink? Do you have adequate case cooling? Where are you reading that temp? In the BIOS, from the internal sensor?

Yep, that's definitely too high. Up to 50 under full load is generally considered ok, though I prefer to keep mine at least as low as 45.

Xivier:

I think you are running at an acceptable (comfortable) temp. Out of curiosity, what size case and box ventilation (fans) are you using?

You say case fan, as in singular. So, you only have one case fan in the back? Well, there's another problem, lol. I use an aluminum case (they dissipate heat faster than a steel case). I have two 80mm intake fans, one 40mm intake fan, three 80mm exhaust fans, and the fans on the power supply (intake and exhaust) and my CPU and northbridge are water cooled. Now some might say that I'm overdoing it, but I overclock everything and I like to keep my HDD's cool. Plus, all my fans have on/off switches and speed controls. I turn them on as needed. I think you should probably look into installing another fan. A blowhole is always nice.

It is time that you upgraded your case cooling. Have at least an 80mm rear exhaust fan high and an 80mm front intake fan low. Be sure to spend a little extra for ball bearing fans as sleeve fans are cheap and unreliable. 114cfm sounds a little drastic(from a noise pov). Does your power supply have its intake on the bottom? AMD rated ps needs that intake on the bottom to help reduce heat from the cpu.

P.S. Welcome to TechIMO!
