AMD here, price and performance.
Not to be rude or thread crap but this is a regular question here and if you do a search you will find alot of opinions quickly.

AMD = Good
Intel = Not as good (not that there's anything wrong with that) |

AMD: Good processors, cheap!!, very good in laptops, but in desktop motherboards the available chipsets let them down - not reliable, stable or easy!
Intel: Intel proc in an Intel chipset mobo you can throw stones at and it'll still work,
IMHO of course,

AMD is best IMHO for builders - both for its overclockability, performance, and frankly price. I use it exclusively. While Techteen makes a point, I like Intel for stability (server), but I have never had any problems with AMD chips being unstable. And as far as my experience has gone, the chipsets for AMD boards have been more interesting and powerful than Intel's. |

I have certainly found AMD chipsets to be more 'interesting' LOL
