Motherboard for upping FSB and downing multiplier

Saluton,
Any people had much luck with setting the FSB up and setting the multiplier down?

I was intending a new motherboard with a 333fsb and 333mem but only an xp2100+. So, thought I might unlock it and do the above manoeuvre ... any word on successes / motherboards to use / performance benefits of doing so.
Regards,
Dale.

That's exactly what I am going to do, but with a 2400+. I tried to convince my friend that his 333mhz ram is going unused with a 266mhz FSB, but he said his computer is "fast enough" and that there was no need to overclock it. Me, I'm o/c the sucker the second it arrives on my doorstep.

Both him and I are using the Soyo Kt400 Dragon plus. It supports 1mhz FSB incrases, full multiplier settings, but best of all PCI/AGP dividers, those are very helpful.

Since my friend won't o/c, can't tell you of any good/horror stories. I doubt you want to wait a week to hear my story, but I'm gonna post anyways.

ABIT motherboards are great to O/C with the SoftMenu in the BIOS - no jumpers to tweak! Voltage, FSB, and Multiplier are all adjustable. They also have very small increments you can make, like 1 or 2 MHz instead of 5 or 10.

I'd like to back up howste on that statement, for all the reasons he said, and the fact that ABIT boards are rock solid reliable. I'm running an Athlon XP 1900+, and I've had it up to 2100+ performance levels before...too bad my generic RAM didn't like that

Remember, if you plan to OC, get good RAM, like mushkin.

Saluton,
That all sounds great ... I'm not rushing out to get this machine so I'll be around to hear your stories joker.
Personally, I was going to put the FSB from 266 to 333 and drop the multiplier a bit but it sounds like you're heading from 333 towards 400. Anyone else doing this or, better yet, has done it with success?

Regarding RAM quality: Anyone want to make comment on Kingmax RAM ... ? My choices at the moment are Kingmax, Spectek (Micron I believe) or Hyundai. If I'm not trying to overclock it I'll just grab the Spectek but who knows what my wicked little mind may contrive so ... any word on the Kingmax?

Regards,
Dale.

What about the Epox EP-8RDA+? Reviews say it is a rock solid overclocker's delight. Anyone have any experience with it?

Saluton,
Ok, reread my post ... I see my error b4 too many others do ... the 2400+ actually runs on a 266FSB ... it's the next one which utilises 333mhz (mostly).
Dale.
