It's funny that this kind of thread keeps coming up over and over again...
I voted for AMD, but I do like the hyperthreading idea.
I think AMD is the best bang for the buck, though...
Always liked 'em, always will.

Can anyone tell me why it is that Intel is the most dominant CPU manufacturer when most people prefer AMD when given the choice? |

Most individual system builders prefer AMD, though.
That's IMO of course... |

Yeah the freaking OEM market has the big deals with Intel (HP, Dell, Gateway.....yadda yadda yadda) and ALOT of people go that route and that AMD doesnt' have the server base Intel does either. I have seen a few systems with AMD chips in them though so there is still hope, if you check online retailers for computer systems though usually they have quite a few AMD systems if not as many Intel systems they offer.
AMD btw

While I build AMD in all of my boxes and love them I am starting to think about intel after seing some benches for the 3.06Ghz P4 with Hyper Threading... looks very promising. I would go with them if they wernt so darn expensive.
