| What should i choose? please help
I am new at overclocking..so bear with me for a quick question
I have a asus a7v333 , xp-2000 proc and pc 2700 256 meg ram
under my bios under advanced it shows:
cpu speed..select between manual, 1250, 1667 and 2083
cpu freq. multiplier currently at 12.5 range of (5-12.5)
cpu/pci freq currently at 133/33 range from 100/33-227/45
i changed cpu speed to 2083 and the cpu/freq multi jumped to 166/33.
I know the board is a 333mhz board so Is it safe to leave it at 2083..and is this considered overclocking?
thanks in advance, les |

You changed your front side bus from 133x2 to 166x2. The XP2000 is meant to run at 133, so yes, you have overclocked your system. The 333, means that your board supports 333Mhz memory speed (166x2), which is what you have with PC2700. Keep an eye on your temps, if the processor can handle it, run with it. If you experience problems, back it down... I dont know how well the 2000's OC, so not sure what you will experience. The last numbers in that sequence- /33 ... you dont want that number any higher than 36-38 (conservative numbers) as it will cause some serious errors .
Your chip, by default runs at 1.67g, by running it at 166, you are chip is at 2083g.
Goodluck! |
