IGLOO 2320 PRO: Remove the pad or not?

I'm going to be latching down an Athlon 1700 onto a Biostar M7VIG PRO MB and using the Igloo cooler. But it has the pad at the bottom with the paste on it. Should I scrape all that off and use my own paste or leave it there?

Yep, lose the pad, but don't scrape it. That could scratch up the bottom of the heatsink. Rather, use something like GooGone to get the bulk of it off, then follow that with isopropyl alcohol to get all the residue off. That will leve you a nice, clean, uncontaminated surface.

Then use Arctic Silver if you can, but even standard white goo is better than the pad.

Scraping it's fine depending what you scrape it with. I use a blanking plate from a card slot normally, then use the same one to spread the paste on the cpu.
The whole point of AS or any other thermal compound is to fill any scratches or whatever, and one of hese blanking plates as as wide as a CPU core anyway.
