At what temp would you stop?

My XP1800 is currently at 43C. Current voltage is 1.76. Just curious as to how much higher I can push it before it may be lethal. I'm well on my way to 2.0ghz, but don't want to fry it, at least not until I have another chip for a backup. What temp would you stop at?

Below 60c is fine and no worries
60c~70c you might lose stability but no big worry
Over 70c you will lose stability with most apps and you should worry!

Officially, 90c will kill this chip, but why the risk

BTW, my XP1900 @ 150x12= 1.8 GHz / 1.79v .. full load 42~45C
Personally i start to freak out when my temps are over 50C

Is it at 43C at full load or at idle?

My limit is 60C at full load, although I may let it creep up to 63C on warm days. 60C as the average. My system is no where near that now. Temp may not be the limiting factor. I had a PIII 800 whose temp was well below the 50C I didn't want to surpass, but even at the max voltage recommended here and under full load, it wouldn't get over 45C.

So, a better question might be what people think the max voltage should be. I am not sure of that and would like to see that myself.

Dave

Well I hate to sound like a copycat, but 60C is the magic number...but as KenKun mentioned you can go higher. I wouldn't, but that's just the little gremlin on my shoulder reminding me of how much work I've put into my system.

I agree with Dave also, the voltage is a huge factor in OCing...you have to weigh both sides of the fence heavily before you "push it to the limit."

Highest I have seen the temp go so far is 44C. Seems to be 100% stable Guess I will go a little higher tonight and see what happens. Thanks for the quick replies.

Had to bump it up to 1.8v for 11.5 x 168.
Temps hit 48c while running this test:

Not sure if I want to go higher or not

Well it looks like I'm stuck

I can do 169 x 11.5 or 178 x 11 but no higher. Voltage is maxed out and temps are still ok.

Anybody know a way to squeeze more out of it or am I done?
