Should I be concerned?

I'm running the Athlon 1.4g with 266 FSB. CPU temp was running at 59 C. Even though I had no problems, I felt it was a little high. I switch HS and fan over to a volcano 7 and now its running at 53 C. with just the thermo pad mounted on heatsink. Should I be concerned and get some Artic silver paste and take it to the next level? I've heard that the 1.4 athlon runs hot. Do you think 53c is to hot? I do not over clock and run general applications on system.

53 is fine at load. If you arent Oc or doing anything else I wouldnt worry at all about temps as those are fine. You'll know if it gets too hot as the system will become unstable. I say as long as its running well then leave well enough alone.

Yes, I agree. Thank you for your thoughts. Kind of like, "if its not broken....don't fix it".

hey Pete, I have the same set=up. I was using a volcano 7+, switched to a Vantec Aeroflow, temps dropped from 58c to 53c underload. Been running 53c for about 2weeks now, no problems. I have 2 intake, 2 exhaust, 2 fans on the PSU, aluminum case and still could not keep my xp1700 under 53c with a load, so not to worry!
