| replace fan or not?
as i said earlier i just purchased some new fans..one being the tornado 80mm fan. I am currenlty running the volcano 7 modded so it runs full blast at 5000rpm always. I was wondering, since sound is not a issue, if i should replace the thermaltake fan with the tordano? Since it runs the same db but 84cfm?
well going to bed..let me know what yall think.
btw when i get everything in and installed ill send some pics of my first modded case.

Are you going to overclock your processor? If so then switch them. Hopefully noise really isn't a concern. |

what temps are you running now? If nothing unusual, I am unsure as to why you would. If you are going to overclock and are concerned about temps, definitely swap it in there.
BTW-how did you mod the volcano 7 to run at full speed all the time? I want to do it to mine but wanted to know what to do first. |

you need to bypass the temp sensor. I modded mine to use a switch so i could choose between full blast and temp controlled. Search in google, it should come up with something useful. It is a good heatsink i liked it better then the 7+ i got to replace it but watercooling is the best so quiet!! |

well basically i took the temp module out of the equation..kept it just in case i wanted to go back..just cut the thermal resistor out and splice wires back...full speed ahead baby!..my temps are running ( full blast at about 107 idle 113 full load) modding the volcano dropped it about 4-5 degrees f by itself. I also took a old 80mm fan that the bearings were gone and clipped the fan from the middle to leave just a 25mm spacer. I put that between the modded fan and heatsink..looks huge but i think that helps a little with getting more air to center of heatsink. I also tried to (when thermister was connected to fan) to stick down inside of heatsink. It helped a little brought up rpms from 2000 to 3500.
thanks, les |

I have a tornado and it really is loud! Hope you won't be around that screamer to long. I have mine on a rheostat so I can control it. If the ambient starts getting a little warm, I crank it up a notch, but boy does it scream but very effective. |
