I got the slocket converter thing today. I also got one of my fans today. How am I supposed to put in the slocket converter? Am I supposed to just put it in on top of the old one or do I take the old one out? I tried just putting it in over top the old one and it wouldn't fit. BTW, I am just trying to test out the 1.3ghz celly on the e-machines which has a coppermine 466mhz in it. So is this why it won't fit? It says on package2you.com that the converter works with coppermine's. so how do i get this thing to work?
EDIT: No wait a minute....I forgot that the celly 466 is a Mendocino not a coppermine.
So could this be why it doesn't work?

I think all of this is moot anyway as you said your hp board is 1 66mhz fsb, how are you going to get it up to 100MHz? From what I know about HPs , I own one (actually it's on ebay right now) their boards are proprietary. They take a normal board and swindle the company into stripping it all of the way down, no fsb adjustment in bios and of course, no jumpers on the board either. I could be wrong since yours is a little bit older. You might double check that though. |

I am talking about putting it in the e-machines right now. That is what I want to know about. I can change the multiplier. I know that. I have already changed that but, does anybody know how to hook up that converter? |

Well, I finally had a chance to play around with the HP. I had to pull out the PSU to put in the processor but, that wasn't very hard. It just barely fit in that tiny case w/ the Volcano 6CU+. So I just put on the socket converter, the proccessor, put on some AS III, put on the fan, and put it back together. Then I turned it on and it worked nicely. I didn't even have to modify any of the settings. It automatically picked up the 100mhz FSB and showed it in the BIOS w/ no probs. This thing seems very fast now! One bad thing is the loudness of it. Wow! Now to try out the 700mhz Celly from the puter in the E-Machines and see if it works. Also, what would be the best CPU Multiplier to put in the BIOS for it? I can go up to 11.5 w/ it. |

I wonder if it ever worked? I have my doubts if the board only took ppga celerons originally.
