Help with cpu upgrade?????

I have a 1 and a half year old Dell 4100 with a 866 mhz P3. Can i upgrade it to a newer 1.4 ghz P3? Would that give me a lot more performence?

Very very unlikely. You'd have to get a different motherboard, and I very much doubt any other motherboard would work with that case and PSU.

You would have to get an adaptor to convert a Tulatin chip to the older voltages, and you'd have to spend a bunch of money on the CPU. I'd think a better use of the money would be to save it toward an upgrade.

EC is right about the case. I'm almost certain that Dells don't use standard ATX cases so you'd need to replace the case if you upgraded.
