Tom sucks.

There are many better sites and forums. Like this one, for instance. What do you wanna know?

The basics are:

Multiplier X FSB (front side bus) = CPU mhz. These can be changed in your bios. Your cpu is running @ 14.5 x 133mhz(fsb). By increasing the either of these values you increase the cpu speed.

Generally, you will have to also increase the core (cpu) voltage to increase the cpu mhz's. Voltage is also changed in the bios. Cooling and core temperature watching become important.

Any questions?

You are speaking of Tomsintelware.com aren't you? Mr. intel smell himself?

Why would anybody in their right mind go to somebody like him for advice on AMD's?

I've never owned an intel processor, and find toms guides very helpful.
A link where I can smell too?

I just refuse to go there anymore. The place is just too full of misinformation.

Perhaps instead of debating tom's sainthood ... we could spend some time helping this guy oc his pooter?

Sure.

Most probably your cpu is multiplier locked (quite all athlon xp+ processors are, athlon mp processors are unlocked), so you can only oc by raising the fsb.
You should be able to easily raise the fsb to 150MHz, just mind the heat. Usually oc'ing should be done in small steps, after which you should stress your system (eg. run 3dmark) and if it's stable, raise it a bit more. When you hit the point where it's no longer stable, go back a little and settle there. Again, mind the heat.

Oc'ing shortens the life span of components, raising the fsb raises the frequenzy of all the buses simultaneously. Usually the processor will be able to go much higher, but the pci will not allow. (fsb of 150 makes pci bus 37 (I think) which is pretty high). Some mobos allow you to change the multiplier of the pci bus, if you oc alot, lower it.

The motherboard comes with Easytune oc software is this safer than going into the bios? I understand that if i overheat the processor i could burn it up is this also a danger to the memory and mb? Without overclocking my memory reading on sisandra is 1800, 85%, and 88% does that sound right?
