fans

ok I am using a friend's cpu fan and I have a question. He wanted me to see if it could cool my cpu (xp 2100 at stock) because he doesnt know what type of fan it was. It runs at ~7500 rpm and keeps my cpu at 40 degrees celcius and I have no case fans. What is the maximum amd processor you think he could use with this fan? He has a 120 mm case fan in on his case as well.

Tough question without knowing the make and model of the fan. The cooling properties are based on heat sink and fan combination as the heat sik is designed to disapate a certain amount of heat do to fan rotation, speed and angle of blades creating such and such turbulance.

Get him to buy what ever CPU his mobo will support and try it on his machine. If insuficient cooling is found, buy another HSF. They are pretty cheap. $25.00 and under.

Cheers!

it depends on too many factors to tell, like temperature of the room, what the case is made out of, how big the case is, what kind of stress load your running.....
