I dunno if this is an issue, although it kinda concerns me.
I bought a Volcano 7 by thermal take and i can never get it to go over 3000 rpms. I just idles there however the cpu never over heats. However, when i touch the temp sensor on the fan, it speeds up to 5000 rpm. I would like it to stay there to keep the cpu cool.
Is this normal for a Volcano 7? Is it possible to change out the fan if I needed to? |

It doesn't sound like a fan issue to me... did yours come with a limiter?
Mine had one... I set it to high... I never tried medium or low...
And are you hooking it up to the board or through a normal plug from the psu?
If I recall correctly when I bought mine... they said you had to hook it up from the psu's power. Not from the mother board or you'll burn up your processor..

With a little cajoleing, you can get the thermistor inside the heat sink fins. Keeps mine up around 4500 all the time. Otherwise I think you could cut the thermistor out and splice the wires together. No resistor = no resistance. It's either that, or then it would never run fast... Heh. |

I cut out my sensor and spliced together the wires to run at full speed all the time, I run at a little over 5300rpm. |

the thermal take volcano 7 comes with a little green or brown sensor that lets it take the temp and adjust the fan speed. I am trying to get mine to go up some. |
