Nice! I was just researching price vs. performance of upgrading my cpu. I have an 1800+ and was looking at a 2400+. I think half a gig is worth upgrading, maybe. Either that or upgrade from 512 PC133 to 512 PC2100. I got a disappointing score of 8543 on 3DMark 2001SE. What do you all think? I know my memory sucks a$$ as far as speed.
ECS K7S5A ver. 3 (bios flash will upgrade to XP2600+)
XP1800+
512 Crucial PC133
80g WD HDD 7200
PNY Ti 4200 128mb 8x AGP(Bestbuy deal)
16x Lite-on DVD-rom
24x10x40 Lite-on CD-RW |

After I bought my 1700 palo ($57) they dropped $7 almost the next day. I had the price of $56 at my local supplier and when I got the money a few days later their price was $66 so I went to newegg to get the same price. Computer parts prices changes almost every day.

Asus Nforce2 deluxe
XP 2200+ A stepping (runs cool) tbred
Kingston Valueram pc 2700 @ pc 2100 aggresive timings.
2x256mb @ cas 2.5 for dual ddr
ATI radeon 8500LE BBA ( 250/275 3.3ns hynix stock speed)
Rest of stuff unimportant
3dmark 2001se scores 9100.
A ti4200 belongs at 11k man. Id say yeah, sdr is a problem but more of a dif will be found in a higher mhz cpu if your talking games in real life and not benches. my old rig same video got only 7k cause I had a 1.5gig P4 on rdram. Went to 2200+ and it was like "HOLD on were flying!".

All right, I got the Crucial PC2100 512mb stick flying in from the warehouse now. Now for the 2400+ prices to fall a little bit. |

I hear that. But I just got my barton 333fsb support. LOL Im not jumping on the 400mhz fsb boat yet. I think alot of people are thinking that too. I still dont have the 333 one. But oh yeah-good for the price drop. No doubt. The "barton" is well within reach-I can see it already. In my pc. Humming along happily. "sets off in day dream" |

Yeah-that was OEM though with 30day warrenty and no HSF right. I go retail on new builds. Safe peace of mind with Loooong warrenty. But thats why OEM is there-each to their own. |
