Powerleap PL/P4N

I bought a PL/P4N adapter that allows you to use any 400 FSB pentium 4, 478 pin processor on an older pentium 4, 423 pin board. I installed it into my friend's Intel D850GB motherboard with a pentium 4 2.0A computer. I got nothing but a black screen! I am sending it back and requesting a new one, is it a waste of my time or has enyone had luck with the PL/P4N? The D850GB board is listed on the powerleap site as being compatible!
Thanks

Those things are flaky -- they'll work perfectly on some boards or completely fail on others. If it won't post, there's little else you can do.

My old one had a fail-safe jumper (last in row) that was purposely not mentioned, but when disabled let it post on a mobo it otherwise wouldn't. But that's taking a BIG risk.....

Those adapters are really pointless... They don't always work, when they do work they're not always stable, when they are stable you will not get nearly the performance you would other wise. The best option would be to find a CPU on ebay that will work with that board, or buy a new board for the s478 CPU you have.

Welcome to Techimo.

Have you tried clearing your CMOS? It's always a good idea when changing CPUs.

Like Ramon said, trying to use an adapter to upgrade to a CPU the motherboard was never designed to support is a crapshoot. That's just the nature of these things.
