When I set my CPU multiplyer to 12x (used to only happen with 12.5 and up) It starts to load windows and says cant boot windows protected mode or something like that (I will get an exact quote later)
So whats going on? Do I need to up my FSB it runs fine at 12 with a FSB of 175-180 any ideas?

Windows corrupts when it tries to run too fast. (too high a fsb, or too high a temp due to oc'ing or inadequate fan)
I don't understand, these questions are like -> 'how do I drive my volgswagen polo 1.1 at 150mph when the retailer tells me it tops at 130mph'.

9-10 times that is your cpu oclocked to where it needs a vcore boost to boot. How do you think one knows when to up the vcore volts.

Oh ok thanks.
I will try upping the core voltage.
It runs fine and cool (below 35-6 idle and 40 about under full load for a couple hours at 11.5 and 12 [12 is working now])

When you bump the vcore up only go ONE step in bios at a time. Dont go and give her .5 boost right off the bat. Go with the smallest increase possible-just till windows will load.
"[12 is working now])"
Cool. Id still assume it was vcore that caused yer error-Ive been there. |

I upped the vcore (I guess I will just call it that) the smallest incriment and it runs fine with 12.5/175fsb fine. I wont go any further untill I get my SLK900 though.
Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear its working good now. Only up it more if you need to as you oclock higher later. If you do that is. Its a last resort mesure-and usually results in the error you got untill high enuff. |
