Is my CPU gonna be ok?

Just took delivery of one of those 'Magic' 1800's. Stepping is JIUHB and it's registered as a Thoroughbred B

Core Thoroughbred B
CPU Model 8
130nm Process
Operating Voltage 1.5v
multiplier 11.5
Manufactured: Week 7 2003

What does this tell me?

I'm not sure how the JIUHB 1800+'s do. It's the 1700+'s with that stepping that have overclocked extremely well. If you list the rest of the stuff there by the stepping, maybe we can tell you more.

JIUHB0307MPMW

That's all the info. on Mp3.zonebg.com/cpu/cpu.php there's a translater, and it is supplied unlocked etc, so it will definately do 2400. But it was supplied as a 2600 or even a 2800 stepping model.

Where do I start overclocking this processor anyway?

I'm using a Gigabyte (KT400) GA7VAX board. Should I just ramp it up in easytune 4?

Hugo

In the CMOS setup, you can adjust FSB speed, multiplier speed, voltage if needed.... all there if your board supports it.

This one of the best OC articles I have found for beginners. IT explains where to start and what you can and can't do (for example, if your chip is locked, you can't adjust the multiplier).
