| Overclocking on Gigabyte Board
Hmm. Can;t seem to up m multiplier on this machine; using a Gigabyte GA7VAX and can't find a way to up the multiplier to meet my sexy overclocking needs. Using a JIUHB 1800 and it will only work at 1800. Damn! |

Use the Easytune4 that came with your board---it allows you to simply make adjustments, test them, and then apply them---give it a whirl...
(I dont think your board unlocks your multiplier, do you have an unlocked chip?) |

All sorted. yes, have an unlocked JIUHB 1800+XP... but my board has manual jum[ers as well, so i set them a little ahead of myself...
I'm running at 2086MHZ (Xp2600 speed) at stock voltage and it's cold!
Under CPU Idle S1 cooling, it's running at 16 deg C
I know it can;t be right, but it feels great!

Using Easytune does not actually apply your OC settings to the BIOS, but that can be an advantage because your system will still boot and POST, even if it is unstable in Windows due to too much overclock!
PS-I would recommend keeping all of your posts regarding this issue in one thread instead of starting a new one every time. It makes it easier for us to give feedback.

I agree with the sentiment, but each Issue i had was a different type of issue; you know, moving through the gears till I remembered what I had known years ago when I was OCing K6-2's. |

I like easy tune because I can up the FSB till it crashes apply it in the bios and then return with it working fine test it some more upp the core voltage oc more untill I hit 185 the max on my board (the same one)
After that just take the multiplyer up by .5 untill its running about 35-40ish idle and stable.
With my stock HS/F on my barton 2500+ I can get about 2.15ghz.
Its not the best board for OCing but its a nice stable stock board. Most of the work will have to be done with the multiplyers.

| Come onnnn---this is entirely un-neccessary... This board may require the multiplier switches set manually - they are at the upper left of the processor. I have the same board and it refuses to recognize changes in changes to mobo switches sometimes, unless I F-Disk the OS drive and re-install the OS.(has to do with stored hard drive set-up data) | |
