Hi all, i would like to know if i can upgrade my current Cpu ( athlon xp1600) to something like an xp2200/ 2400, without changing my mobo which is an Msi K7t266 Pro 2.
i have seen bios updates for the K7t266 Pro 2U whih support these Cpus but i dont know if they will work for my motherboard.
Any help is appreciated |

do u mean kt7? the abit motherboard ? if not who makes your motherboard ? no matter figureded it out my self . if it is the msi K7t266 Pro the manufactures page says it will do up to the 266 fsb xp 2600 so you should be good to go with those chips . you might have to flash the bio's i am not sure . here is the web page http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...t=K7t266%20Pro i checked the bios and it doesn't seem to say if you will have to flash it to do those cpu's . pop it in and try .

It's that damn KT133a chipset. Some do some don't. With Abit it depends which version, MSI has a mod, and my Iwill will not no matter what. |

This aint making sense guys. Blinken has a kt266a chipset, not a kt133. My kt266a is running a xp2000 and will accept up to 2400. Blinken should be able to upgrade to xp2000 at least. |

Try here: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppor...6&NAME=MS-6593 This is for the K7T266 PRO2U. I think this will apply to yours as it's the same board minus the RAID only. Looks like it will take up to an XP2600+. The -U denotes the RAID addition. Everything else is the same between your board and the K7T266 PRO2-U and your K7T266 PRO2.

BTW, Tony:
That's the name of the board. Not the chipset. |
