I'd say the TBred. The Barton depends on extra cache for it's PR, but not all programs make use of cache. But even with the programs that make the best use of the extra cache, I'd still say the TBred would do as well or better because of it's faster speed. Just my two cents.

I'd get the barton and overclock it.

I think the barton, on average, overclocks faster than 2600+.

I'm not sure which link you mean. There are guys getting good mhz out of em at Xtreme Systems forums.

I know that the overclockers.com data base shows a higher avg. for the 2600 but I find it questionable. Some of the highest claims are showing Tbred a codes. Hmmm??? Never was a 2600 A Tbred, that I know of.

If it's a stock 2600+ it is not a Barton. It would be a Tbred B.

??I thought the 333fsb's were Bartons??
but after checking out some sites, I guess mine's not....(AXDA2600KV3D)
But still, I had a good deal, and my system runs like a dream, so I'm not too concerned that it's not a Barton

Thanks for the heads up, Bruneau!!

you can't go wrong with either one really. I use a T-bred 1800+ and it's really solid and fast, but from what i've read about the bartons, the extra cache makes a big difference. I'd go with the barton.

Owning and using a PC is a continual learning process isn't it.
Yes, I thought my CPU was a Barton core, but when it comes down to it, I got the performance I was after, at a price I'm happy with, so no problem.
    Thanks for the advice!
