Which motherboard should I buy?

Hi... I'm going to buy an Athlon XP 2600 and I want to OC it... I'd appreciate if anyone give me some model names of good (but not expensive) motherboards for my purpose...
Thanks.

If you want to over clock, you can't go wrong with the Abit NF7-S v2. It's one of the top performing nForce2 motherboards out there.

If you want the best overclocker, Epox probably has the best solutions (though I haven't had the best experiences with them)...I'd rather stay away from Abit.

This board is really good for the price and the options. Read the reviews and decide for yourself.

Has anyone looked at Gigabyte boards?
I don't know how well they perform when OCing, but the dual bios does an excelent job of saving you when you push too high and cant post (Speak from experiance )
It just resets itself and copies the good bios from the back up and your up and running. I know you can just reset your bios, but with this you don't have to open up your case and play with jumpers

Since you're looking to overclock, I assume the goal is maximum performance for minimum $$$$. I'd recommend a 2nd tier brand of the nforce2 chipset. Most of the nforce2 boards offer pretty good options for overclocking, and most are also cheaper than the abit. Honestly, don't write off a KT333 or KT400 either. If it offers the voltages & memory speeds you need, and it's much cheaper, then maybe it's the way to go. I've got some MSI KT333 boards I got dirt cheap, and they overclock great.

If you spring for the Abit, how much money did you really save by overclocking? That money could have been better spent on a faster CPU IMHO.

BTW: I like Abit boards, just may not be the best choice on a budget.

I must agree with MDdan.
The main goal of Overclocking is to push past the manf. specks to get the most performace, in which you save money that would have been spent on purchasing a higher speed CPU and such.

Honetly I understood OCing in the past, when raw MHz made a difference, but now I guess its more of a hobby, with CPU prices low, and chipset being the main deciding factor on performance.
I could be wrong, about this, but shelling some extra $$ on a higher performing board, should net the same results as ocing a chip to match the speeds, and add stability without the worry of cooling. Not saying OCing is not a way to save money, its just that I see it as not as effective as it use to be back in the day when you could double your speeds. It is more of a hobby as I stated above.
Well my opinion, good luck to you tho, happy ocing, and hope you get the most you can out of that system.

As MrPurple said, I'll OC it as a hobby... But I don't have much money so I must buy "cheap" stuff...
I'd buy a faster CPU, but the fastest cpus available here are P4 2.6Ghz and Athlon 2600
Any way... now I have a better idea of which MoBos are better for OCing.
One again, THANK YOU ALL.
