    Welcome to TechIMO.

There's been talk of the Zalman sinks being quite.
I have no personal expeirence with them but there has been some decent reviews.
I don't know about OC abilities though.
    Check them out;

The glacialtech "igloo" line of heatsinks are VERY quiet and they cool sufficiently.

I'm currently using the 2320 model on an xp1700 processor.

the 2320 will cool SLIGHTLY better than stock, but probably not much... It's just a SUPER quiet heatsink.

That Thermaltake TR2-M2 is a nice heatsink too, it'll cool better than the 2320, but it'll be slightly louder.

It's hard to say which one would be better... What processor is it going on??

glacialtech silent breeze is the quietest hsf combo out . it is 19dba .... newegg sells out fast when they get them in stock .

cheap fans can be found at www.nexfan.com , www.svc.com and www.directron.com has some nice 92mm fans for .39 cents each

Hey speedyvision I use a thermaltake volcano 9 and hooked up the variable speed dial thing.

I'm running an AMD 2500+ @ 2.08G and run the fan @ ~3000RPM and it's pretty quiet. If I run that volcano 9 at full tilt (what is it about 4500-5000) its really annoying but at the slower RPM I don't hear it I hear my P/S fan more and I run temps from about 42C to a high of 56C (it's been hot the last couple days).

I would suggest getting a volcano 9 they are relativly cheap and do a good job.

from what I've read reviews on, the TR2-M2 heatsink performs really dang well, and it's comparable to the Vantec Aeroflow. It sacrifices a few degrees to lessen the noise though, but it's hardly noticeable.
    You'd be happy with it.

thanks i think ill be going with that one to cool my comp, currently it runs an average cpu temp of 44 c and 37 c system, hopefully this will help me cool it down more, as for the case i dont no wat else to do i already have 4 80mm fans 1 intake at bottom front, 1 exhaust at top threw the stock holes, another exhaust at the top back and an intake on the side window. if anyone has any more ideas that would be great, this is my case nothing special but cheap http://www.mwave.com/mwave/doc2/a14509.html

well, I hope it does the job for you.

BTW, your cpu temps aren't really THAT hot, so I think you're doing pretty good.

my xp1800 averages around 43C with a big-ass CoolerMaster heatsink & fan... I'm surprised it doesn't take off & start flying around...

Maybe it's time to get me a Thoroughbred core... hehe

But my case runs about the same as yours... I don't know what the deal is there. I've got 4 fans going in it.
My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP, what's yours?

Hmm, if you are able to mount it on your mobo I would say the best combo would be a Thermalright SLK-900U, with a 92 mm Enermax speed controll.
It is rated at 28 dB at its lowest setting and it pushes 47 CFM, which is alot more than most Heatsink fans out there. Even at its max setting it is rated at 34 dB and pushes 64 CFM.
The drawback to this combo is that not many mobos can mount this bad boy HS, and its a bit pricy.

    k heres my comps specs.
mobo gigabyte 7zaxp with on board sound
amd xp 2400 running at 2.040.35 exactly
    60 gig 7200rpn western digital
    512 ddr kingston pc 2700
and a 4 dial fan controller by nexus

so all in all my main goal right now is to get all of my computer as cool as i can without water-cooling, ive got the 4 fans i mentioned before along with my powersupply exhaust fan and my heatsink witch will soon be a TR2-M2 heatsink. so any mods or cheap things to buy would be great

WOW, 4 other fans on the case?!?!?! and you want quiet? i would get just two case fans, either 92 or 120mm and get 1 intake and one exhaust... much more quieter.... unless all your fans are at the same rpms all the time... and ive noticed that a graphics card cooler makes a huge whine... might wanna get the zalman heatpipe or other passive(or zalman fan) cooler... passive is the way to go

yeah, when you've got the crappy stamped fan holes in the back of the case, that usually creates more wind noise as it hits the metal and doesn't really go anywhere.... One of these days I need to bust out the drill and fix that...
