Cool Overclocking my celeron 1 gig

I know a Celeron sounds stupid on here against p4's and the such. But overclocking is new to me and before i upgrade in awhile I would like to try overclockin it to see what kind of difference i get. It is running on an ASUS CUV266 motherboard, if that makes a difference. Thanks.

    not dumb at all!

    gotta start somewhere!

celey's usually oc pretty well in my experience, and yeild surprising results!!

i've heard of a few instances where a celey wouldn't go past 1.1, also heard of a few goto 1.5 (still need proof though)

heres a good link for ya on that mobo from anandtech:

    ova-clocka,

what you tell could very well be true, since the Celery's jumped to 0.13 micron process on the 1Ghz barrier.
So that a 900Mhz celly couldn't get past 1.1 is very understandable, since the coppermine couldn't reach that high, and that celly is based on the coppermine core.

Then they switched to the FCPGA2 package, 0.13u process and the yielded by default to 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 and they overclock pretty nice, even outperforming a P4 2.0Ghz if I remember correctly.

I don't have the links for it, but I remember something like Intel quitting there line of P3 based cellies, since they came to close to the P4 2.0Ghz in performance, which was the biggie at that moment.

Anyone remember this too and know the link for it?? RR?? You always the linkman in these kinda things.

Hmmm yes sounds good. If i could get performance outta this chip that would match a p4 2 gig, then i wouldnt really need to upgrade for awhile i guess. Very intersting, thanks

    LOL!

Thats the time when Celery's had 128K of cache and a 100 Mhz BUS Speed, in order to bench higher then a P4 2A Ghz CPU, you would have to get the frequncy to about 2500 Mhz which is about a 150% OC, the only way to achieve that is if you go to the northpole on the coldest day, remove the side panel of the case and then use Liquid nitrogen cooling ,And then take a huge industrial fan and then put it direcly over the PC. Or maybe you can freeze the whole computer in a big block of ice.
