| Temp Range? (Athlon 2500@3200+ Vantec Aeroflow)
I'm not really complaining cause as soon as I put on the Aeroflow, I overclocked my 2500+ to 200x11 right away and the computer booted up reporting an "Athlon XP 3200+" and everything runs solid at stock voltage.
Anyway my concern is temperatures. I'm using MBM software with all the sensors corrent (I'm sure), and the idle temp in the BIOS pretty much matches the idle temps on MBM. When Idle at 22C, everything is as expects (around 32c Diode). However, when I use Prime95 to do a stress test, the temps are near *50C*!. I've read lots of reviews and such testing temps of heatsinks and the difference between idle and load is always less than 10C... how can this Huge differnece between load and idle be explained? |

WELCOME TO TECHIMO!!!
so your bios indicates that you have a 32C idle? thats really low for an idle! I have an SLK-800 lapped with ceramique and the side of the case off with A/C flowing all the time and i idle at 38C, and max out at 45-48C
it isn't that bad to have an average-full work load running at 50C, generally 55C being my line for stability, safety, etc...
check your bios after a few runs of prime95 to see your CPU temp.
*edit* note, my computer is running at 11.5*205=2335MHz or about a 3400+ @ 1.725v |

You mean the Diode is jumping to 50c? That's acceptable...Diode temperatures jump around a lot and can be much warmer (even cooler) than socket temp readouts.

I thought the diode was actually in the CPU core and the sockets just the area around the cpu. Anyway, yeah my idle is that low, I have a case fan on teh side blowing right down onto the HSF and i modified the case's built in grill to Greatly improve airflow (same for the rear exhaust fan) so theres a very steady stream of fresh air splashing onto the hsf and them immediately being whisked away. It's just odd because of the inconsistency.. If my idle was 44 and load was 50, I would think of obvious reasons (eg. HSF installation problem) but this Range is weird. |

Really shouldn't be reading 50C at stock voltage - of course this depends on your case temp, but if you're idling at 32C then your case temp is obviosuly pretty low. What's your load score at stock speeds? |

Ok I did a test with Prime95 (5min) last night and just now:
Room Idle/Prim95 Clock
20 31/44 1.83MHz
20 31/45 2.20MHz
25 32/46 1.83MHz
25 33/49 2.20MHz
I tried the BIOS thing after burning in my CPU, but the temps go down too fast so I can't see load temps using the bios. Is it weird that stock and OCed temps are very similar? Also, while the temps are safe, I still can't understand why theres such a large increase. I expect soemthing like 6C differnece between idle and load and I get over 12C.. |

My idle is 32c. 2500+ at 3200+ speed stock vcore on asus a7n8x deluxe rev. 1.04. Max temp is 41c at nite-45c on hot days. Make sure you have good case air flow. Other than that 50c is totally fine. Really good actually on avg. for such a oclock. I have a 1600+ that idles at 45c here maxes out at 55c usually!
