6VXC7-4x issue

I have one of these boards running a PIII 1g, and all of a sudden it will no longer load Windows. It currently has Server 2000 on it and was running fine up till now. Granted, it has not been on for about 2 wks, but nothing has been done to it. wtf?

When I power it on, it will POST, then stop at the boot strap process. I tried resetting the BIOS to fail-safe - no go. Tried booting to floppy - no go. And I even reflashed the BIOS. I even tried to boot from the 2000 CD.

I get a good POST - only one beep. Any ideas?

Break it down to just one stick of RAM, cpu, and pull out all the other cards etc. Disconnect ide and floppy cables except for the main hard drive..try to boot from there. If that doesnt work maybe try to unhook that drive and/or IDE cable and hook up just the floppy and try to boot to floppy like that.

Sounds like possibly a piece of hardware isnt initializing correctly or something along those lines. So pull all the cards and strip it down to try to get it to boot with a very basic configuration. Then if you get a boot..start adding back cards etc one at a time and see which one hangs it up.

Modems in particular are infamous for that sort of thing.

Sorry..this went in the wrong forum. Should have been Motherboards

Anyway, I will try the suggestions. I am beginning to wonder about my video card. It has been a bit flakey over the past while. It is an old 1mb generic (Cirrus Logic chipset) card that is about 7yrs old.

Thanks
