What's the normal/average temperature for a Athlon XP 1600+? Also what is the norma/average temperature for the system as a whole? |

Temperature range varies between different systems. Due to different heatsink/fan combos used and amount of system fans.
RPM and cfm are a factor.
As long as you're cpu isn't running higher than 40c at idle and 55c at full load, then it should be fine. Another note, the XP is supposed to run a few degrees cooler than the T-Bird. |

60C is the highest it should go. Test it at 100% CPU utilization and see what the temp is. You will probably have to DL and runt he Motherboard Monitor 5 program to tell the temp at 100% load. If it goes above 60C, get a better fan, add thermal goop to the heat sink or get better case ventilation. The case temps are fairly high, especially for winter time. Those temps are definately on the high side, but not dangerously high if you take care of the situation now.

i do not know what the average temp is but amd say the max die temp can be 95c. I would not run it at that temp. but all my tbird 1000mhz are 125f for cpu and 95f for case. the xp's are cooler than the tbird 1000, these use the most power |

i recently built a system with a epox 8kha/xp 1500. during idle,it stays at a pretty much constant 37C. i use a dr thermal heatsink and fan. i ran artifact tester for 12 hours which maxed out the cpu and the temp rose to 43C. these are cpu temps, forgot what the system temps were.

I have Athlon XP 1600 @ 1.55Ghz 1.75v core)
Current temp at full load 41c, system temp 25c no load it drops to 36c. (approx, might be lower)
I'm using Thermaltake Volcano 6CU (4550RPM model)
ASII for paste. |
