Can all crucial ram reach cas 2 or 150 fsb, or maybe both? I have two gift cards for bestbuy and was wondering if i should get some crucial ram. If not all crucial ram can reach cas2 or 150 mhz or both, what would be a good guess on a %? |

pc2100 or pc133? i think it's fair to say that thay will go cas2. how high to overclock it, i don't really know. it really depends on the chips it's using and the modo of couse.
if you look at some of the overclocker's sites, you'll see a sticker on the module and you can use that as a reference.
i have the crucial 256mb pc2100 running cas2/175fsb. i can take one of the modules out and jot down the numbers on the stickers if you want me to.
regards

the stuff best buy sells is only rated for CAS 3, so i can't speak for that, but i have the PC133 CAS2 official crucial memory, and it overclocks to 160mhz at CAS2, so i'd bet that their CAS 3 stuff might hit CAS 2 @ 133, maybe a hair higher too, crucial memory is by far the best stuff out there... |

crucial offers several varieties of PC133 at the same capacity....
CAS 3 non ecc, unbuffered (what best buy carries)
CAS 2 non ecc, unbuffered (what i have and hits 160mhz cas2 for me)
CAS 3 ECC, unbuffered (slightly slower due to the error correction code, but more reliable, for servers and high end workstations usually)
CAS 2 ECC, unbuffered
CAS 3 ECC, registered(for servers mainly)
CAS 2 ECC, registered(also for servers)
but the best buy stuff might do CAS 2 at 133mhz, but probably not any higher.
*edit* earlier when i said official crucial, i just meant i bought it from www.crucial.com via mail order. |

| 256Mb Mushkin Hi-Perf. Rev. 3+
i think this is some of the best around. you'll find reviews out there and most have gone 150fsb. you may be abe to go higher.
i have x3 PQI pc133 (as generic as they come) at 155fsb, i'd like them to go higher but my hardware don't like the pci bus at 165fsb. |

hey r0l0e what cas rating is that for the mushkin? 2 or 3?
also, what for your generic stuff? 3 i'd assume?
eek....$106 for a 256? that's a lot, crucial 256's are a mere $43 by comparison...

r0l0e, that link you posted seemed to me anyway to favor crucial, and crucial is still cheaper! Mushkin is good stuff, but IMO, crucial is the best.
this is why i haven't gone DDR yet, crucial doesn't offer cas 2 DDR pc2100 memory, as soon as they do, i'm gonna get some! or maybe wait for 333 cl2 from crucial, that ought to hit 400mhz! |

i agree with you on that link. but that's only a reference. i've gotten hold of some $15 pc133/cas2 modules and they rock at 160fsb.
i don't think crucial will come out with pc2100 cas2 ddr since the pc2100 cas2.5 ddr is under spec'ed. who knows, maybe they'll come out with pc2700 cas2 or maybe (cas1.5 ??)
iwill xp333 certainly has the most aggressive memory timing IMO, even for a pc2700 module. i bet crucial will come out with memory that can handle more aggressive timing. |
