I use the non + model with the 5000 RPM fan, and it keeps my XP nice and cool. My brother just installed the + model with 7000 RPM fan on his 1.2ghz T-Bird, and it dropped his temps a fair amount, but he said the fan sounds like a hair dryer! |

If you're worried about how loud the fan might be, checkout: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/tecar.html - They do a really good comparison of each fan's sound via decibel level and allow you to download a small clip of what the fan sounds like. Grab one from the high-end and from the low-end too, so you can adjust your volume accordingly. |

I used it on a couple of builds for non-overclockers (4500K rpm, not the 7K rpm fan), but that does not mean that it is not a non-OCer HS. It kept things cool and wasn't too difficult to install. I was impressed with it. I used it on both a 1500+ and a 1333 (same chip with and without the XP).

I used one without the Delta howler (the non + model) on a 1 gig T-Bird build, kept things un the upper 40'S full load and was pretty quiet. Also reasonably easy to install if you're careful.
Sitting next to the one machine in the room with a Delta in it. By FAR the noisiest thing in the place.

I suggest the Dominator II. It is cheaper than the Volcano, and has gotten many more great reviews. Just go to Google to check it out.. Anyone else heard of it?
You can check it out *HERE*..
Or buy it *HERE*.

I just did a search of all the places I knew that had the TaiSol CGK760092 w/copper base. It seems that they are no longer available. One site quit carrying TaiSol HSF's alltogether. I can't even find them on Pricewatch! |

I'm using a Volcano 6Cu (non +) on an Athlon 1600 XP @ 1800 / MSI K7T Turbo R LE combo with good results. 39C-41C at idle and 46C-48C under load......that's a few degrees cooler than my FOP-38 provided and a whole lot quieter.

I use a volcano 6cu+ on a duron 750@900 @1.7V right now and the highest it goes is 40C, it's pretty hot here right now though in Aus. The fan isn't too bad....those delta's sound high-pitched and it's quite irritating, the everflow 7K unit is slightly louder but it's just a loud whirring. Not too annoying at all and with a closed case it's quite good. |
