Newer 7000rpm fans are not as bad as the GW Screamer was...

The Globalwin 7000rpm Screamer emitted a high-pitched whine....it was so bad i had to get rid of mine and my friend covered his case with his quilt....

I have a volcano 6cu+ and the 7,000rpm fan on it hardly sounds like the globalwin screamer... they have much improved the deisng of 7000rpm fans....

But man the FOP-38 made your ears bleed....

You're absolutely right about the FOP38, I have one screaming right next to me at the moment. My most recent build I opted to trade off a few degrees of core temp for some quiet just to avoid that.

I wonder if you got lucky or whether Delta finally fixed that 'bearing whine" problem?

jeese -I already got ringing in my ears most of the time from heavy handguns and not enough hearing protection - that would drive me mad.

any way to keep the noise down - or is it a design thingy.

My brother just got a 6Cu+..says it sounds like a hairdrier! Luckily, my 5000RPM 6Cu keeps mine cool enough!

I refuse to use loud, high speed fans. You shouldn't have to shout to be able to communicate with another person with a computer in the room.

I'm currently using a 3" fan running at 2400 RPM. It manages to keep my CPU at a reasonable 44C.

    7000RPM Fans

Before the Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+, I had a Vantec CCK-6035D (An All-Copper Heatsink). The Delta Fan was just PLAIN LOUD. It really bothered my parents while they are sleeping. Usually, with this HSF, when I ran Scandisk under Real-Mode DOS, my mom complained about the noise of the Vantec CCK.

When I replaced the Vantec CCK's Stock Delta Fan with a YS-Tech, it was still LOUD. I can even hear it at the Kitchen.

When I got the Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+, it was sort of loud, but it's not as loud as the Delta and YS-Tech Fans. I did a test-run of the Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+ with my bedroom's door closed (which houses my AMD-Powered Mini-Tower) and standing inside my parents' bedroom for a few minutes. As opposed to the 7000RPM Delta, the Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu+ was much quieter, although I would've made things quieter with the Volcano 6Cu instead (The Volcano 6Cu+ is more suitable for Athlons, while the Volcano 6Cu is suitable for Durons, but both are AMD-approved fans, although I have yet to see Volcano 7 on the AMD-Approved list).

Using Antec Reference Thermal Compound and the Thermaltake Volcano 6 with Asus Probe PC Health Monitoring Software, the Athlon XP 1600+ I'm using as of this post is now at 46 Degrees Celcius. The highest RPMs I've hit was 7105.

The 7k fan on the volcano 6 cu+ is not a delta or YS-tech fan. IT's an everflow fan, it's actually louder than the 6800rpm delta/YS-tech however it's a constant burring sound, the delta's fans were high-pitched and quite irritating....I can't say I've used a YS-tech fan however.

I tie-wrapped a 80mm case fan to my FOP-38. Now I just hear the 92mm case fans instead and they are nowhere near as loud. In the middle of the night I could here that delta screaming on the other side of the house!

My case fans are louder than my Volcano II fan. At night I turn the one in the front and one of the ones in the back off so I can sleep.

Got used to my Delta7000 on a GlobalWin WBK32 hs. Of course, I really can't hear it because of the 90mm case fans.

Had a globalwin 7000 RPM (on WBK38) it was like a dentists office, a high pitch almost drilling noise, I replaced that with a thermaltake 4550 rpm lost 2c on my temps, but I've sorta gained back what little sanity I have. =]

very low noise, my 2 thermaltake 92's over power that sound no probs.

I heard that NDC! I’ve gotten used to mine also. Actually I didn’t hear that……I just plain can’t hear anymore. J/K

Globalwin WBK38 Hair Dryer on an AMDxp 1600.

Really irritated me at first, guess I got immune.

of course, the noise is better than your chip burning up, imo, if you overclock a lot! LOL

I have the potentially loudest delta of all...the 60x60x38mm, the big TALL one...but i run it at 7 volts, 5000 or so rpm, and as quiet as a FOP-32 with the output of a standard Delta 7000rpm fan.
