CPU/GPU temperature Question.

What would be considered the safe ballpark Temperature for a GPU/CPU? Can they handle 85*c safely?

Not in my opinion. I don't like to go over 55 at the very highest. I usually run in the range of 40-45. What cpu and gpu?

Well, I have the P-4 2.6 ( this seems to run O.K) I would like to find software to Monitor CPU temp, if this is possible. Nothing Fancy, just basic and easy to install.

Im currently running the Nvidia 5700 Ultra 128Mb VCard. I monitor GPU Core temp with Installed drivers.

I "had" a PCi card right next to the Graphics board, impeding on the fans air flow and Unreal 2 became Unstable so I checked the GPU core temp and was surprised it had reached 85*C. Just looking at the Desktop, it "was" 65*C. Yesterday, I had the PCi card relocated, and now the Temp is 41-44*C on desktop and Max's out to 58*C while playing unreal 2...Much better IMO.

Have I done any longterm damage to my Graphics chip? This was only occurring for one day untill I found what was causing my game to become unstable.
