Hello!!
I have a Very Silent DELL Computer in which i changed the video ard to a Leadtek A280 TD, it has 2 fans and a VERY large heatsink. The question is, can i disconnect the 2 fans on the card if i dont play games? Because they make VERY much noise. The reason to have this card is that it has tv-out, and the original ATI board doesnt.
Pic of the ATI board: http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/im..._a280_td_2.jpg
The heatsink continues on the back of the board too!! |

No, I wouldn't do anything like that regardless of use. The only time I would disconnect the fan is if I took the CoolBits reg hack or Powerstrip and cranked the clock speeds waaaay down, as far as they would go, which would could possible reduce heat enough to where no fans were needed.
Try it and see, the worst that would happen is your comp would freeze. If it does, reconnect the fan and check into other options. |

You could always modify your Leadtek card with the Zalman Heatpipe. No fans what so ever |

i disconnected the 2 fans, and it's been running for over 4-5 hours now, watched a DVD so there should be no problem. No other fans in the machine, only CPU and PSU =D damn its quiet now |

Well, if it works for you then go for it. Not something I would do, even if I didn't overclock my stuff, and your card will be subject to more stress, but whatever. Did you take my advice to heart and use PowerStrip to underclock your card? |

Keep in mind that running your card without the fans also voids any and all warranties on that card.
