i would say to get a 2500+ or a 2600+ instead of the 2800+. since you are getting the slk947, you will be able to overclock to 3200+ speed with good temps and save money. i've got the 2600+ on a nf7-s with the slk947 and a 92mm fan and my temp is 36C at idle. you dont have to go that far either you could just go the 2800+ speed.
what thermal stuff do you plan to use? i used artic silver ceramique and just followed their guide to applying it. |

CD-R driver is okay but if going for DVD, thats just some add-on.
Theres a P4 Hyper-Threading. I dont know whether this one look new or not but its good

An AMD 2200 0r 2400 or 2800..any of those will CRUSH a P4 1.5g. Those numbers on the AMD are their "rating" of more or less how they compare to a P4...in other words an AMD XP2200 should be roughly equal to a P4 2.2g.
If you go here youll find some cool stuff like these short videos showing how to put on heatsinks etc

thermal paste should be spread VERY THIN . almost see thru . if your not gonna overclock save some money and just get a retail cpu and use the hsf that comes with it . then you don't have to worry about thermal paste because it comes with a thermal pad already on the heatsink .
the heatsink you picked is mainly for people that overclock HARD .. so if your not going to overclock don't waste your money .

i would say get the 2500+ or 2600+ and overclock to 2800+ or higher. i've got the slk947 and a 92mm fan and the temps are excellent on my 2600+ with it at 11x200 (3200+)
i would recommend liteon instead of asus for the cd drive. newegg's got a liteon cd drive for only $17. thats if you dont want to go for what they suggest, a dvdrom. newegg's got a liteon dvd for 32.
you might also want to consider getting 2 of that ram for 1gig. it's not exactly necessary but my last computer was using almost all of its 512mb.
also might wanna consider getting a larger psu. might not be needed but that way you wont have to upgrade it later.
and check out my new system to see what some good stuff is:
Athlon XP 2600+ barton@11x200=3200+
Thermal Right SLK-947U + 92mm enermax fan + ceramique
Abit NF7-S
Kingston 1GB (2 512MB) DDR400 PC3200
WD "SE" 120gb hd
Radeon 9600pro
Liteon dvdrom
Liteon cdrw
Chieftec Server case with 450w psu
4 case fans
i think the total price was around $800. of course i have more memory and i got a hard drive and graphics card too and a more expensive case
it's not too hard to put the heatsink and thermal stuff on. just either print out or put up on a computer close to where you're building the new computer the guides for installing the heatsink and putting on the thermal paste which both thermalright and artic silver have. dont try to put the motherboard into the case until you have the heatsink on though, as this one requires a plate on the back of the motherboard. |

Your build looks good, It will beat that P4 1.5 Ghz with out any problems, but as they said if you don't plan to overclock get a Retail CPU that comes with the thermal paste and the heatsink... you will save some money that can be used in the future for a better video card....
just my 5 cents... |

actually if you were planning to get like a 3200+ you would save a bunch by getting a 2500+ and an slk947 and ocing it to 3200+ |
