Unhappy AMD athlon 2600+ thoroughbred or barton?

I'm confused. I was looking at processors on a couple of different web sites. I saw the AMD 2600+ shown as a barton and one as a thoroughbred. Are there two different ones or is one of the web sites inacurate?

Yup. There are two different 2600+ CPU's. The Barton runs at 333Mhz and the Thouroughbred runs at 266mhz.

    It's the same.

I just had a look around and it seems that the Thoroughbred does run a 333Mhz FSB. (Oops, my bad.)

It looks like the only real difference between the two is the the Barton core CPU has double the on-die L2 cache at 512K as compared to the T-Bred's 256K.

Now look at the actual clock speeds. The Tbred is faster than the Barton.

At least when I was looking at the 2500+'s. 266mhz Tbred ran at 2.0 ghz and the 333mhz Barton was 1.83 ghz. Stange.

Thanks, The 2600 was the chip I was thinking of going with. But after reading the forums, I think I will probably go with 2500.

ok, I'm not a big gamer though I do like some games that use a lot of graphics. I probably won't be over clocking. I just want a fast and stable system.
Right now I am running an AMD1300 which runs well, But I want faster and I'm going to switch to a MB that takes DDR. pc2700.
My present MB only takes SDram pc133.

Do You think I'd be better off with the AMD 2600 over the 2500?
