Question
can i upgrade my cpu celeron -> P3?

hello,
i've got a socket 370 mobo with intel 810 chipset and celeron 500mhz processor - i want to chuck a p3 in there, but i'm not sure how to check if this will be compatible? also i've been totally unable to find the mobo manufacturer details anywhere - by looking up the bios string i found a link to some company called "Aristo", but my techy friends had never heard of it, so i don't have any original mobo documentation.

if any body can offer some tips i would be extremely grateful!

thanks in advance,
charlie

the mobo model and manufacturer should be written somewhere in the mobo pcb..

It is nearly impossible to answer your question without more information about your motherboard. Here is a site that may be able to help you get that info. If you can get the make and model someone will be able to help.

Your MoBo with the Intel 810 chipset should handle up to PIII850MHz (100MHz FSB only) and up to 512MB of PC66 or PC100 SDRAM.
These were the specs of Intel 810 chipset.

Also, to be more sure, you can download the standard version of SiSoft Sandra 2004 and use it to detect your MoBo. (it might fail to detect it though)

thanks for all the quick replies -
ok i have done some more digging using the links and apparently the mobo is:

VTech
AM-672 or possibly Am-671.
Socket 370
manufactured by Aristo.

I still haven't been able to find any documentation for it though.. the Vtech site only seems to deal with mobile phone technology...
