2000 mhz to 2400
Hi. Recently I just built a new computer with a 2400+ AMD processor. My new computer works great, only one problem. In my bios menu it says my proccessor is 2000mhz, but really it is 2400+. When I raise it, it only goes to 2500, 100 more then what my proccessor really is. Is that okay if I leave it on 2500? Is it even okay to raise it without doing anything else?
Sincerely,
Michael Cottier

2000mhz is your clock speed. 2400+ is the rating.
When you say raise it what do you mean(FSB multiplier)?Urban is back.
And yes that is how you spell my name. I am living proof that 2+2=5

Your XP2400+ is supposed to run at 2000Mhz. The 2400+ is AMD's performance rating number as compared to a 2400Mhz Intel. Your getting a pretty good overclock running it at 2500Mhz. If everything is running stable and it's not running too hot, it's safe to leave it as is.

a 2400+ runs at 2 Ghz, so your screen is correct. 2400 is representative of the speed comparable to a P4 2.4

Edit: Dang! third!?!?! Getting slow in my old age
It's okay to leave it at the 2500 as long as your temps are okay and it remains stable. Welcome to 'Overclocking'

hmm. Well I don't know how to check temps, or what the temp should be. I guess I will just leave as is. Unless someone helps me.

If its running stable, I'd just leave it. The temps won't be any higher unless you've increased the voltage as well. Sit back and enjoy your first overclock

If it doesn't stay stable, put the speed back down and no harm done.

download Aida32 and look under "computer" ..." sensor"
under 40 C is great... over 60 C isn't good

choose the personal edition

Another good program is speedfan:

If you haven't touched the voltage, the temp shouldn't be affected anyway. Bumping the FSB a little won't hurt
BTW just re-read your first post. Did you mean 2500MHz, or XP2500+ rating? I wouldn't bet on it hitting 2500mhz, but you should be able to get another 100mhz or so out of it._____

About 18 months ago, I went pure conspiracy theorist and pretty much paranoid about everything regarding electronics due to a smartphone app I was coding. Stopped coding the app and sold the phone....
