2400+ core voltage

need info on my proc, athlon xp 2400+

problem is i set the core voltage in my bios to 1.65v, but motherboard monitor reports a 1.77v reading..

good or bad?

specs:
athlon xp 2400+
asus a7v266-c
apacer 256mb pc266 ddr cl 2

Does that board have an "over voltage" jumper? I know the a7v333-x(very similar board) does. It causes the actual voltage to be slightly higher than what it is set to in the BIOS. It's meant to add more stability when overclocking. As long as your temps stay low enough it shouldn't be a problem at all. If it worries you, simply lower it down a little. If you notice any instability, bump it back up

I don't agree with those sorts of systems, they should leave you to set the voltage on your own, as you might just bump it to a high value to see what the chip can do, and end up frying it. Imagine if I set my voltage to 1.7 (as it is now) and it was actually running at 1.83v. I wouldn't be happy.
Anyway, some ASUS boards do that, just drop the voltage and see what happens. If you can get it down to reading 1.65, then it should do you.

its the lowest setting in the bios, 1.65v, but mobo monitor reads a 1.77v.
