I'm not sure how many people here have heard about this but kazaa is truely going down the drain. And it isnt because they are being shut down.
When kazaa downloads a song it groups the downloads by the first 300kb of data. However some scandelous people (possible the RIAA) have submitted songs similar in the first 300kb of data but different throughout the song. Therefore kazaa recognizes it and thinks that they are both the same song and downloads from both locations. When both downloads are complete it mashes them together in a corrupt heap of musical carnage. The result - a song thats good for 20 seconds (the first 300kb) and then corrupt thereafter.
Now im against all forms of piracy, but i also believe in 'sampling' music before i buy it. I see no reason why i should buy a CD and then realise it is actually not all it has cracked up to be. Therefore after learning this news from a german page (albeit old news) I was truely horrified. Please do not tell me i am the only person to have noticed the downfall of kazaa in the downloads?
Andy
PS i am not actaully dutch but freetranslation.com is very handy

As far as the Kazaa thing goes, the RIAA has been putting out decoys of songs for quite some time. It's not news. And it's certainly not "KAZAA BUSTED!". I don't even know what the hell that means in the context you're using it. Misleading title. |

Apologies for mislead information, i suppose its an opinion if i think that kazaa is busted as in no longer works. Am i the only one here who samples albums before i buy them?
Besides i feel that if i download music, unshare, delete and then buy it i am not breaking the law.

Kazaa works. You just have to look for the right titles. |

Every music store I have been to has a listening station where you can check out the tunes before you buy them, and I tunes allows 30 second previews, you should never have to buy music before listening to it and you shouldnt have to download it off the net to do so.

Aside from the fact that Kazaa clearly isn't broken, why was this topic placed in the privacy/security forum? Isn't a more appropriate category the OS/Apps section.
