Trend Micro sent me this

Hi,

In an e mail from Trend Micro today I got the link below

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms04-011.mspx

In trying to work out if it affects me I looked at my boxes and found one is Win ME and 98SE one is a MAC so I don't care.
Of the ones I really do care about for my livelihood one is Win 2kPro SP 4 and another is Win XP PRO Version 5.1 Build 2600 SP 1. This XP box is only a couple of months old and I installed XP Pro after buying it from a CD.

My two question at the moment are:

Do I need to d/l this thing from MS

How do you know if you have 64 bit XP and what difference does it make?

Cheers

1. If you bought XP from a store you don't have 64 bit.
2. Easiest method would be to go to windowsupdate and download all critical patches.

MS04-011 is an important patch...you should install it on all your boxes.

you don't have xp-64bit...you'd know if you were running it.

Hi,

Thanks.

This box is set to do the auto update deal but I'll go and check anyway.

I bought it and the box(Sony Vaio Laptop) from Comp USA in Ft Lauderdale so I was just happy it all worked right off the get go as I bought it on my way to the airport.

Cheers

Hi,

I just went to the MS Site and D/ld all the XP and Critical updates.
The XP Box is restarting while I type this.

I think auto opdates has not been working properly because of some firewall changes I have made( added a new Router)

Cheers
