MS has a page dedicated to this one - comes with a online checker to see if you got stung.
Cheers

Yea, just found the MS link on BBC.
Was wondering why I've gotten three A/V updates since Thur. Kinda guessed something new was afoot.

Doesn't spread by email, though - just spreads on the network. So if ya have a decent firewall, nothing to worry about.
No firewall, though, and....

i'm afraid that it cannot be detected by most antiviruses, mine didn't detect it either.
Fortunatelly, for those who are using double os or win98 will have no problems (including me :-)).
I was infected by it too, like a week ago and I didn't know the reason, but after I saw the news I just switched to win98 and now i just installed the ms patch and xp's running smoothly again.
I have one question, does the patch fix the other versions of the virus?
[edit]
one more thing, is anyone having connection/speed problems with p2p programs? I can't get connected to anyone, may be its cuz of the darn virus... damn those hackers. |

Patches were out prior to the appearance of Sasser. I can think of no good reason why anyone should be infected with this, however looking at my firewall logs I can see that this certainly is not the case.

just being behind a router...with no firewall....will that help?
the machien i am on now has w98se so I think i am fine there....but other comps on my network have XP....should I just turn em on and go straight to Windows update site or should I download a patch onto a cd and do it that way (without putting them online?)
I dont turn those machines on very often...so they may go a month between getting updates etc
Usually when I do a fresh build I put on the blaster patch before the comp even goes to windows update...I guess I should do that with the sasser patch also? (hehe...that windows update cd that just went around--it didnt stay current for long did it? lol)
