| Norton or McAfee or other?
which AV do you use?
Currently I have Norton Anti Virus but it's a load of crap IMO. It wouldn't detect 5 viruses on my computer that McAfee detected........is Mcafee the one most people would recommend or is there better? Norton will be thrown in the trash I guess |

I've been using NAV since 2001, and have never had a problem with it. I briefly thought about changing whilst using 2004, because I was having problems with it. It started working fine again, though, after a clean install. |

I had McAfee on one of my relative's computer before and it didn't detect a virus. It caused the whole system to crash...it booted up after about 20 minutes, it wouldn't open up anything and, the desktop was like all distorted...I don't really know how to explain it. It was just a huge mess.
I've always used SAV Corporate because of it's ability to update all of the computers from a centralized server.
I always reccomend NAV to everyone else that asks me, though....I just don't like the bloat. |

I use NAV with a Mcafee firewall and it has worked great, aslong as you get frequent updates.

I, too like the NAV Corporate Edition. The client is able to be managed centrally, and it is also a small footprint and takes up little resources. Plus, the virus definition updates are much more frequent.
PC-Cillin, I've heard, is a good one, but I've haven't had a lot of experience with it.
If you're looking for Good but Free AV. Try AVG Anti-Virus.

I think Norton products take up too many resources - I stopped using NAV and Norton Personal Firewall and switched to Kerio firewall and AVG antivirus. I'm extremely happy with both - not to mention they're both free. |

I use NAV and periodically have an online scan done from www.trendmicro.com. Works well for me, have only had a couple of infections, but as fast as new viruses, worms, etc. come out, I won't complain.......always hard to keep ahead of the bad guys.

how do you know how much resources it takes up? I really don't notice a speed problem etc with my pc...? I have Motherboard Monitor running, weatherbug, style xp, Norton, Micro instant messanger, AIM, ATI control panel, Enigma pop up stopper, rage 3D....
still runs fast and no problems...??? |
