hmmmm.... lets say somethiling like yeah mcafee has a name but mcafee takes a lot of system resource. when your choosing a anti virus or firewall try to look for something that does not suck up system resource. like for example pc-cillin anti virus or avg anti-virus with combo of sygate firewall or tiny firewall something like that. also you can google some chart about firewall or anti virus.

Zone Alarm, or a hardware firewall built into a router are my two top picks.

Sygate is my personal favorite.
Zone Alarm is a great product, but not my personal choice.
Also, just because McAfee have popular products it doesn't mean their software is great.
Same goes with Symantec products. I just don't like neither of them regarding firewalls.

go with avg anti-virus and zone alarm firewall..that's what i have and they work great...i've also heard good stuff about sysgate..but i've never tried it....also...consider getting spybot s&d and adaware se (both free) for a very secure system....these products are far superior to the ones you find in stores imo. plus they're free!! if you have a few computers networked...then you can actually scan networked computers with avg also!! if you get the paid version with a few licenses you can even install it on all the computers and then control the anti-virus scan's on all the computers from one computer. it's a great way to scan all the computers at night without having to bother the family (just tell em to leave their computers on when they go to bed..shut off the monitor and stuff!!) that's what i do..makes my life easier! |

I had a bunch of trouble with pc-cillin. It wouldnt work with my Microsoft router. It took me 2 weeks to figure it out. I finally found out from Microsoft that it was a known issue. |
