I have run a couple of the online free securty scans. Sygate being the most recent.
My Linksys router/firewall blocked it all. I have no other firewalls except the XP SP2
running. My main concern is out going info. I would like to block ALL out going. I do
not like the idea of M$ or any one else tracking me with out my knowledge. Are
there any suggestions?? |

I use Zonealarm and set it so it will always bring up a box that will ask me for file permission.
That way I can deny the stuff I don't want going out, or permanently set the stuff I do want to go out (so I don't have to keep clicking yes whenever I want Mozilla to connect). |

| Sygate Personal Firewall
I've used both ZA and Sygate and find Sygate the better of the two. Sygate will not let anything go through unless you say so. You don't have to let anything go if you don't want.

You don't have to let anything go if you don't want. | Over the past few weeks I've been trying out the free versions of several firewalls. ZA is not impressive. It has slowed my connection speed. I'm on a cable
INTERNET service. I've even had some firewalls block my INTERNET connection and I
had to dump the firewall. So far it's Kerio or Sygate. My goal is to find one I like
and buy the full feature version. |

I think you'd be most impressed with the Full version of Sygate. I've not used the Kerio so I cannot comment on it. |

At one site Kerio asked 25 times about opening some thing Just at the one, trusted
site. Yup dumped Kerio. Visit a site with a lot of eyecandy and you'll spnd your time
with allow/no. It is good at blocking pop-ups and pop-unders. |
