Sygate personal port 1025 question

I recently changed my firewall from zonealarm over to sygate. And, so far, I'm impressed with it.

However! I was at grc.com doing the shields up test, and it discovered my port 1025 was open.

Now, is this common for it to be left open?

I just added to new advanced rules, one for a TCP 1025, and a UDP 1025. And grc still registers it as open.

How do I close it?

Thanks.

Ok, the port is open because svchost.exe (Generic Host Processes for Win32 Services).

Right now, it is using 31,664 K of memory. What would happen if I block the internet to this file?

EDIT: I blocked it, and now it passes the grc scan, and nothing has (seemingly) been effected yet.

depending of what type of services (and any addt'l programs you installed that run services), they probably won't work properly anymore

svchost is the host process that manages all your services on the os. if you think something is suspicious you'd be better off looking at what processes are running (use a tcpip port viewer).
