Question
Firewall Issue?

Just got a new computer AMD Sempron 2800...came with Sygate Firewall and ever since has shown many records (showing port #s) of someone scanning my system. Was told WITH a firewall no one should be able to do that

With out without a firewall they are still able to do it, its just that the firewall stops it was actually getting through to your computer. I wouldn't be too alarmed. My ZoneAlarm racks up alot of blocked "attacks." Alot of it is just random network chatter so to speak, random IP scans, etc etc etc.

I suppose if its the same IP showing up a real lot you could look into it, but either way theres not a whole lot you could do anyways.

Yeah, probably just random traffic out there. Your firewall will not stop port scans, but to the person or persons doing an intentional scan on your IP address, they will not be able to see any open ports. That way they will think there is no computer there.
