| Help- I've been scammed!!!
I need some help. My boyfriend found an anoymous stranger from Ebay that was selling some phones that haven't yet been released by Nextel. He contacted this person, spoke with them for a few days, and decided to purchase some phones from this person. They claimed to be in Romania. This person told my boyfriend he'd accept payment via Western Union. My boyfriend explained to me this is how it worked: he would send the money and this person would not be able to collect the money until they handed over the phones. My boyfriend tends to embellish things. Anyways, now we're out 1300 dollars, and I was wondering if there was any way to stop this person, figure out who it really is? Anyone know how to hack??!!?! Anything!?!? I'm sick to my stomach to think that this was actually done to me/my boyfriend. I know my boyfriend is an idiot- but I don't know what can or needs to be done. I contacted this person via email today, they gave me completely different contact information. They have an AOL account... if that helps. Anyone- please give advice. This persons email address is Borcanita@aol.com. If anyone can find anything please let me know. I appreciate all your help- in advance. thanks!!!! |

first off you wont get very with asking anyone if they know how to hack here. We do not discuss these manners here on this forum
where did he send the money too? If it was in Romania pretty much kiss the money goodbye. What are the sellers ratings? |

Yes, he sent it to romania. I do believe. I doubt ebay would be willing to help. They tell you in like all of their emails to report anyone trying to get you buy something outside of ebay or trying to get you to use western union... both of which my boyfriend did. I'm sorry if I offended anyone by asking about hacking. I guess this is a "you get what you deserve" type of deal. |

You are basically out of luck, but if you live in L.A., they have a special uint in the police dept for this type of fraud. You should report it to your local police and ebay. |

Best thing to do is as mentioned above. Contact western union as well as your local police department. You alsoneed to contact ebay, even though they may not take action to get you a refund they can at least close the persons account and possibly keep him from scamming another person.
edit: you might also try some of the forums listed here however i think you'll get the same advice
Hacking, attempting to hack or soliciting someone to hack on your behalf is not the answer. It can and will get you into more trouble than the $1300 your out.
Not really sure why on earth someone would be willing to send that kind of money to someone outside the united states anyways

If it had been me doing all the negotiating, finding, buying, selling... I know better. But, it's really something my boyfriend is doing... and well... he tends to jump too quickly and make irrational decisions... thinking it's a good deal, when really... "it's too good to be true"... I felt like kicking him! Thanks for the advice. And the reason he was sending him the money, is because the phone has been released in other parts of the country, just not the US. |

Why was he buying $1300 worth of phones? How was he planning on activating them?
Is this your money or his? Does he have a Western Union receipt?
How long have you known this boyfriend?

How long have you known this boyfriend? | I'd have to concur, those are some very good questions.
How on Earth why/can you buy $1300 worth of unreleased Nextel phones and expect to activate them?
