| Norton Firewall Questions...
Hey goofy goobers!
Alright...here's the deal...I've got two computers (WinXP Home & Pro) connected to cable internet via my Linksys Wireless-G Router (WRT54G)...both have Norton Internet Security Pro installed. File/printer sharing is not a problem as long as I right click, disable Norton on both computers.
If I don't disable it, the computers cannot "see" each other at all.
Two Questions:
1) Should I even concern myself with Norton's firewall while I'm connected to the net through my router?
2) If so, is there a way to configure Norton so that I don't have to completely disable it to perform file/print sharing between the two computers?
Thanks in advance!

I've never used norton but I believe there's secure zones in it too, where you can add an ip whom you trust.
After that, all traffic should work between trusted hosts. |

Hmm...thanks for the reminder muno...I could have sworn I already had our IP's listed in the trusted zone.
[scratches head]
I'm getting old, lemme toss the IP's in there and give it a go! |

you really do not need a second firewall when useing a router as the router is a hardware firewall. |

And the hardware firewall only inspects incoming traffic, not outgoing. |

That's exactly why I've kept Norton running...it has blocked numerous outbound traffic packets that I did not want to be sent. |
