BEST NOTEBOOK LOCK?
Hi guys, I really need to get a lock for my notebook. Which ones are the best? Thanks!

My college uses the standard ones that go into the frame. THey seem to hold well but I guess they could be ripped out with enough force. I have seen new ones that bolt into the video card, I think I might want one of those, if they rip it out of there I know the laptop will be useless... I also prefer Key locks over combo locks. It doesnt take long to run through 999 combos or even 9999 combos if your away long enough.

Just make sure that it's a standard slot key lock, not a barrel lock like this one

LapLocker
I'd say check out the LapLocker - it just came out and is being put in a lot of universities... www.laplocker.com - the demo looks pretty cool.

That laplocker looks like something for a store display, not something the owner would want to use.

l3
A lot of the laplocker models look like they are for store settings but the main L3 model looks pretty lightweight and it says its intended for college students and home/office users... i might order one to check it out because i dont think its worth buying one of those kensingtons when they provide 0 security... atleast if the cable is clipped on this thing, the person is carrying around a laptop hooked into a collar - that thief wont get too far...

I just called Think Products today (company that sells the laplocker) - they said thats exactly how it works - incase the cable is cut or the desk destroyed to get the laptop, the laptop is still locked open and in a collar - however, they did mention that their cable is about double the width and strength of the kensington cables and that it would take more than regular wire cutters to cut them... i placed an order for one... sounds like a good deal to lock up my stuff for school... cant trust those dorms...
