Im confused. I can't switch users unless I make a second user which I really don't know how to do for some reason. Anyway, I can follow along up to the point where you have to import. I am lost at that point because I don't know where I exported the "working security setting.reg" file too??

To create a new user, start--> control panel--> user accounts--> create a new account------> <follow instructions> I personally wouldn't go into too much about setting it up, just as long as it isn't a "guest" account...
I'm not 100% about this, but I think it should work if you just go back through and re-export it to somewhere easy to remember (for example just stright into C:\ - nice-n-easy..!) so that when you go back in as <bad settings user> you can find it easily and it isn't in a user profile folder.....
Alternatively, get Raptor to send you the settings file and import that one - again, I would recommend saving it somewhere easy to find....

This is not meant to attack you in any manner, but do you know how annoying it is to constantly see this entered as a fix for someones question? IMO, if you don't have an answer that doesn't include "Download FIREFOX" then don't. | Recommending Firefox in a situation like this is completely kosher. Why continue to hand people band-aids for a bullet wound (IE) when you can fix it once and for all? It's the sensible thing to do, and it's going to save them headache in the future. Internet Explorer is nothing but hassle and a risk, and as you noticed, others chimed in to offer suggests in relation to the current issue.

Thank you very much Raptor and Nude lewd man. I worked around my problem by creating a new user (which when I switched it reverted to prior updates) I then downloaded the firefox setup and did not complete the install. I the went back to my primary user account and serched for the firefox setup. ran the setup and now its working. Thank you very much for the help and the ideas. |

I never had this issue at my any of my home PC's.... cept at work. ( I get around it by adding sites in the security settings )
Is this PC at work? Could be a script that runs and reverts everything back when you login?? |

I had the same error message as you did "Your currect secruity settings do not allow this file to be downloaded" Im using Internet Explorer 7.
My fix was in IE7 > Tools > Internet options > Security (tab) > select Internet Icon > Custom Level button > under Downloads >> File Download - set this to enable. Was able to download fine after doing this.

put this site in your trusted zone (i assume you have allowed all the 'activeX' and 'download' stuff for sites in your trusted zone...):[appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net] why all these sites have to make things so complex KNOWING that in today's security environment issues like this will repeatedly come up is the big f'n mystery... |
