Good Afternoon gang!
I have a friend that needs to keep her son off the computer while she is at work. He is 12 and is finding websites he shouldn't be looking at if you catch my drift. Well, she is taking the power cable with her and he is still getting on. Can anyone suggest a good USB lock she can use? Oh, it has to work with windows 98se.
Thanks! |

Yeah, JMTek or something like that makes a flash drive with software on it that, when you pull it from the computer, it automatically locks it and even a reboot can't get around it. The flash drive itself is overpriced, but I guess it works well. |

A USB lock? Never heard of it.
Why not just set a system startup password in the BIOS and have her be the only person who knows it? |

Here is a program that I used to secure a pc. It works great, is very difficult to get around and only costs $10. http://posum.com/worklock.html
At one point I used it to drive a computer science student from Purdue crazy. He knew he could get around it but never did.

How do you do that? Excuse my ignorance, but I have never had to worry about this type of security before. |
